The School of Management Studies, University of Hyderabad (UoH) conducted a two day Faculty Development Program (FDP) on “Business Analytics” on 11th and 12th November, 2016. The FDP evoked a good response with fifty participants from Andhra Pradesh, Telangana and Karnataka attending it.
Prof. B. Raja Shekhar, Dean, School of Management Studies, UoH and Chairperson of the FDP welcomed the participants and spoke about the changes occurring in the areas of digital transactions, evolution of big data and the deployment of data analytics in various functional areas of businesses. He stressed on the necessity of management faculty to keep themselves updated in the emerging areas and in turn impart the skills and knowledge to their students.
The FDP focussed on the areas of Applications of Business Analytics, Big data, Statistical knowledge for Analytics, Usage of MS Excel, R and SPSS in business Analytics. The resource persons included the faculty members of the School as well as industry representatives.
Prof. Raja Shekhar talked on ‘Statistics for Analytics using Excel’ Dr. G.V.R.K. Acharyulu, faculty at School of Management Studies talked on ‘Predictive Analytics using SPSS’. Dr. D.V. Srinivas Kumar, faculty at School of Management Studies talked on ‘Decoding Business Analytics’ and ‘Analytics & Algorithms’. Dr. Alok Srivastava from C.R. Rao Advanced Institute of Mathematics, Statistics and Computer Science (AIMSCS) talked on ‘Importance of R in Data Science’. Mr. D.R. Mallikarjuna, (GTS Analytics and Deployment, Centre of Excellence (CoE), Member of TEC India – IBM Academy of Technology Affiliate) talked on ‘Analytics in Practice’. Dr. Vishwanath Kokkonda, (Managing Partner, Yagnaum Consulting) talked on ‘Smart Analytics’.
