The 2015 annual conference of International Federation for Theatre Research (IFTR) will be organized by the Department of Theatre Arts, S N School, University of Hyderabad (UoH). Prof. B. Ananthakrishnan, Dean, S N School of Arts & Communication presented the proposal bid in the executive committee meeting of the IFTR on July 21st 2013 at Barcelona, Spain which was successfully agreed to by the IFTR on 27th July 2013.
IFTR is the oldest international organization in the field of theatre research and the Hyderabad conference will be the fourth conference of IFTR in Asia. It is proposed to organize the conference from July 6th to 10th 2015 under the theme ‘Democracy, Performance and Public sphere’. More than four hundred theatre scholars and practitioners from across the world are expected to participate in this major research event at UoH in 2015.
The International Federation for Theatre Research exists to facilitate communication and exchange between scholars of theatre and performance research throughout the world through its conference events and publishing activities. Founded in 1957, the Federation currently boasts members from 44 countries and from all continents. It holds annual international conferences, regional conferences, and research working group symposia. It owns a leading international journal (Theatre Research International) and publishes two major book series in collaboration with Palgrave Macmillan and Rodopi.
