An MoU to host the disaster recovery centre of Savitribai Phule Pune University (SPPU) was signed on 9 June 2018 in the presence Prof. P. Appa Rao, Vice-Chancellor of University of Hyderabad and Prof. Nitin R. Karmalkar, Vice-Chancellor of SPPU.

SPPU is the premier state university of Maharashtra with a combined enrollment of over 6 Lakh students across more than 700 affiliated institutions and colleges. All the student, faculty and staff records are maintained on-line electronically by SPPU and their safety and security is paramount. SPPU consequently examined several organisations and institutes in different climatic and seismic zones to host a disaster recovery site duplicating all the vital electronic data. SPPU found that the Centre for Simulation, Modelling and Design at University of Hyderabad is uniquely suited for the purpose with excellent infrastructure – power with full backup, air-conditioning, space and high-speed Internet connectivity.

University of Hyderabad is looking to a future where its electronic infrastructure needs to be similarly safe-guarded.
