Milindo Migom Taid, Doctoral Research Scholar in the Department of Communication at the University of Hyderabad (UoH) has been awarded a full scholarship for the ten month doctoral exchange program in the Universitat Politècnica de València, Valencia, Spain, as part of the prestigious Erasmus Mundus Action 2 NAMASTE scholarships, coordinated by the Georg-August-Universität Göttingen, Germany.

The Erasmus Mundus Action 2 Strand 1 (NAMASTE) project received a total of 827 high quality applications out of which a total of 100 scholarships were awarded. The scholarship is funded by the European Commission and covers all tuition, travel, living and insurance (health, travel and accident) expenses.

Milindo has been placed in the PhD Programme in Cultural and Communication Industries at the Universitat Politècnica de València, Spain where he will further his doctoral research work in Europe. Currently, he is working with Dr. Usha Raman, Head of the Department of Communication, University of Hyderabad, for his doctoral thesis on professional communication practice (advertising) and ethics.

The NAMASTE Consortium made up of European and Indian universities within the framework of the Erasmus Mundus Action 2 Strand 1 programme funded by the European Commission has, as its prime objectives: to promote student, teaching staff and research staff mobility between the Indian and European universities that form the consortium; to promote international cooperation, and to promote the transparency and recognition of studies and qualifications at an international level.

Milindo has a Master’s degree in Mass Communication from the Mass Communication Research Centre (MCRC), Jamia Millia Islamia, New Delhi and is a former faculty member of the National Institute of Design (NID), Ahmedabad; School of Communication, Manipal University, Manipal; Communication Design, MIT Insitute of Design, Pune; and the Department of Mass Communication and Video Production, St.Anthony’s College, North Eastern Hill University, Shillong. He is a member of the International Association for Media and Communication Research (IAMCR) Working Group on Ethics of Society and Ethics of Communication.
