E.A. Vinod Kumar, Systems Manager at the Centre for Modeling, Simulation and Design (CMSD), University of Hyderabad (UoH) has been awarded Ph.D for his thesis on The Impact of Electronic Customer Relationship Management (e-CRM) on Customer Satisfaction: A study of High Performance Computing Facility (HPCF). Prof. V. Venkata Ramana, faculty at the School of Management Studies in the University guided Vinod Kumar in his research.

The research aims to investigate the impact of the electronic customer relationship management on customer satisfaction. The usage of the computing facilities has increased in many folds; with this it is very difficult for the High performance computing and supercomputing facilities to manage and satisfy the Customers (Users).

The most common users of HPC systems are scientific researchers, engineers and academic institutions. Some government agencies, particularly the military, also rely on HPC for complex applications. The objective of all the High Performance Computing facilities is to have good relationship with users (Customers) by providing the best solutions to utilize the HPC facility.

Vinod Kumar did his B.Tech (ECE) in 1979 and MBA in 1992 from JNTU Hyderabad. He joined the University Computer Centre as Systems Manager in 1989 after spending around 9 years in Defence Industry and International Research Organizations. The Computer Centre which was attached to the School of Mathematics and Information Sciences and during that period he was involved in developed the systems for the administration, academic departments (streamlining the Identity Numbers for Faculty, Offices and Non-teaching, Payroll, Pre-printed Pay-Slips, Financial Reports, Pre-printed consolidated marks memo and designed the unique ID. No. for the Students by which details of the students are available and brought the new technology, by connecting all schools with fiber network; designed and developed the University Website (domain name: uohyd.ernet.in), installed the email server and provided mail account to all the users. He was also part of the team that introduced the high-end Computational Lab – Centre for Modelling, Simulation and Design. He was also part of the Design of Backbone Network of ERNET, which is used by the NKN at present. Vinod Kumar was also part of the expert committee to design Campus Network for Maulana Azad National Urdu University (MANUU) and the English and Foreign Languages University (EFLU).

Vinod Kumar has taught regular courses for B.Tech/DCA/MCA/M.Tech and guided projects during 1989-1992. While teaching he got interested to do Ph.D and after fulfilling the required procedure he enrolled for the same in Management Studies.
