Official Languages Commission, Government of Andhra Pradesh celebrated the International Mother Language Day on February 21, 2013 at the Ravindra Bharati auditorium. On the eve of International Mother Language Day Celebrations, the Official Language Commission felicitated few scholars who have contributed to the development of Telugu Language.
Dr. G. Uma Maheswara Rao, Professor, Centre for Applied Linguistics and Translation Studies (CALTS), School of Humanities, University of Hyderabad was awarded Vishishta Puraskar for his contribution in the area of Telugu Linguistics and Information Technology. This award was presented to him by the Hon’ble Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh Shri N Kiran Kumar Reddy in the presence of Shri Mandali Buddha Prasad, Chairman, Official Languages Commission, Govt. of Andhra Pradesh and Shri N.V. Ramana Justice, Andhra Pradesh High Court.
