schemes, PPF, NPS, Sukanya Samriddhi Scheme, securities market etc.
He cautioned the general investors not to enter securities market directly as there are
inherent risks in the market and unless the investor has sound knowledge of market, sectors,
economy, international economy etc. He said that, the Mutual Funds were chosen as the best
option available for a general investor wherein he can invest minimum amount though
Systematic Investment Plan (SIP) and build a corpus over a period of time. There is a wide
spectrum of mutual funds schemes which can be chosen by an investor as per his investment
horizon and need of funds.
Concluding the keynote address he said, it was emphatically cautioned to the
participants not to invest in unregulated fund mobilisation schemes – Ponzi schemes – which
give assurance for higher and quick return at the beginning but ultimately vanish with the
hard earned money of investors. The not too wealthy investors are more susceptible to such
allurement and have so far lost crores of rupees in recent past, he added.
