The School of Economics, University of Hyderabad (UoH) is organizing a two-day workshop on Central Statistical Organization -National Sample Survey Organization CSO-NSSO Database and Scientific Research Writing on 28 – 29 April, 2014.
In his inaugural address, Dr. D. Dakshinamurty, Director, Directorate of Economics & Statistics, Government of Andhra Pradesh, emphasized on the importance of statistical data for proper planning. Dr. D. Dakshinamurty further said that the CSO has the main role in measuring the GDP of the country whereas the NSSO supports it in providing the statistical data for measuring the GDP. He also suggested to the students of UoH to approach the Directorate of Economics & Statistics, for any requirement of statistical data in their research work.
Prof. G. Nancharaiah, Dean, School of Economics, UoH, presiding over this workshop said that the NSSO is playing a major role in providing micro level data covering various aspects of Indian economy, land holdings, agriculture, expenditures, house hold, unemployment etc. Scientific validity of the survey requires empirical verification and the verification process requires the data in micro level, he added.
Dr. N.A. Khan, faculty in the School of Economics who is coordinating the workshop welcomed the distinguished guests and briefed the audience about the theme of this workshop.
