A Hindustani vocal concert by Shri Kaushik Lahoti was organised at the University of Hyderabad (UoH) under the Campus Concert Series on Feb 13, 2015 (Fri).
Shri Kaushik started the concert with a Khayal composition in Raag Bihaag, “Kaise Sukh Sovu…” followed by another Bihaag composition in Madhya Laya titled, “Naman Karu Main…”. He also presented a Drut Laya composition in Bihaag, “Dekho Meri…” and finally a bhajan in Raag Tilang, “Bhajo Re Bhayya…”.
Shri Kaushik was accompanied by Pt. Govindrao Jee on Harmonium and Thakur Harijit Singh on Tabla. The programme was well received by the audience comprising of students, faculty members, staff and other guests.
Kaushik Lahoti is an aspiring artist pursuing Hindustani Classical Vocal and Tabla since past 10 years. He learns vocal from Pandit U Govindrao, senior disciple of Sangeet Martand Pandit Jasraj. Kaushik learns tabla from Ustad Shabbir Nisar, an established tabla artist, son and disciple of eminent table virtuoso late Ustad Shaik Dawood.
In 2012, Kaushik founded a music dance and art school, Kaushik Dhwanee in Kondapur, Hyderabad where he is a faculty for Hindustani Vocal and Tabla.
Kaushik’s recent performances include vocal recital in Raag Yaman at KaushikDhwanee’s second annual concert in September 2014 and a vocal recital in Raag Bageshri at Sri Dattatreya Jayanti Celebration Music Festival in Hyderabad in Dec 2014.
