MHRD has communicated the setting up of a Central University of Andhra Pradesh in Jantharalu village of Anantpur District. It has also decided that Central University of Hyderabad (UoH) will mentor the University activities till the amendment to the Central Universities Act of 2009 is affected.

Mentoring role as indicated in the communication includes:
1. Formation of society under the societies act to ensure the start of academic activities from this year
2. Identify courses that can be introduced
3. Estimation of costs for running the university for the first year
4. Admission norms based on entrance test etc as determined by the University

The communication adds that the Andhra Pradesh Government has already identified a temporary campus for the University. The Registrar of UoH Shri P Sardar Singh will liaise with the Government of Andhra Pradesh for the institutional mechanisms.

Prof. Appa Rao Podile, Vice-Chancellor will consult academic units of the UoH and determine logistics and feasibility of launching a few academic programmes and the human and financial resources needed.
