Rich tributes were paid to Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar on his 127th birth anniversary at the University of Hyderabad (UoH) on 14th April 2018. Prof. Appa Rao Podile, Vice-Chancellor, Prof. P Prakash Babu, Pro Vice-Chancellor, Shri P Sardar Singh, Registrar, Prof. Debashish Acharya, Dean, Students Welfare, Prof. Darla Venkateshwara Rao, Deputy Dean, Students Welfare, faculty members, officers, staff and students paid homage to the father of the Indian Constitution at the administration building.

Prof. Appa Rao in his address recalled the contributions made by Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar. “His life is characterized by unmatched determination and a firm commitment towards social justice. He was a successful lawyer, visionary, scholar, writer and intellectual who served the nation and the people selflessly”, said Prof Appa Rao.

A great social reformer, Dr. Ambedkar was born on April 14, 1891 at Mhow in Madhya Pradesh. He dedicated his entire life for the uplifting of the deprived sections of society. As a member of the Constitution-drafting committee, Ambedkar provided constitutional guarantees and protections for a wide range of civil liberties for individual citizens. This included the right to freedom of religion, the abolition of untouchability and the outlawing of all forms of discrimination.
