The University of Hyderabad (UoH) has received a major boost to its research and innovation capabilities with a ₹5.0 crores CSR grant from Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) for the establishment of a Centre of Excellence (CoE) in Digital Twin Technology. This initiative is supported under HAL’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) program, aimed at promoting advanced technological research with national relevance.
The proposal was conceptualized by Prof. Samrat Sabat and Prof. Siba Udgata with key contributions from Prof. M. Ghanashyam Krishna. Prof. Sabat will lead the implementation of the project at the AI research Cluster under the IoE Interdisciplinary Centre.
The CSR funds will be utilized to establish a comprehensive research infrastructure, including:
- A state-of-the-art Digital Twin Research Lab
- A Training Lab for hands-on skill development
- A fully furnished auditorium to facilitate continuous training programs and workshops aimed at upskilling students and researchers in digital twin technologies
Prof. B.J. Rao, Vice-Chancellor of the University, remarked:

The Centre is envisioned to promote cutting-edge research, interdisciplinary collaboration, and capacity building in digital twin systems, which are increasingly crucial to sectors like aerospace, healthcare, manufacturing, and smart infrastructure.
