On 16th May, Telangana Raj Bhavan celebrated Sikkim’s State Foundation Day and Sikkim’s 50th Anniversary as a part of the Indian Union. His Excellency Shri. Jishnu Dev Varma, Hon’ble Governor of Telangana, as the Chief Patron, addressed the audience and visitors. He remarked that Sikkim is a tranquil, idyllic Himalayan state with a small population but with profound national presence. Being a young state, Sikkim is India’s first organic state, laden with high tourist footfalls over the years. It is also known for famous personalities from actors, sportspersons, and bio-diversity hotspots.

Whether it is Sikkim, or known with other references—Muyal Liang, Sukhim, or Demajong- it all connotes a peaceful abode for people of different ethnicities, cultural traditions, and even climatic conditions. Sikkim is a microcosm of India in the Northeast Region. Apart from Sikkimese folks in Hyderabad, the audience included many others who were treated to Sikkimese cultural events and cuisines.
UoH was represented sufficiently with EBSB Program Coordinator Dr. Vamshi Krishna Reddy, and four other Sikkimese: one faculty member—Dr. Bhim Subba and three students—Anjali Khatiwara, Probin Rai, and Anup Rai attended the event at the Raj Bhavan.
