The Department of Communication, University of Hyderabad, organised a three-day workshop titled “Storytelling in the Digital Age” from October 31 to November 2, 2025, as part of the Digital and Interactive Media course offered by Dr. Madhavi Ravikumar for MA (Media Practice) students.

The workshop, conducted by Prof. Devadas Rajaram, Multimedia Specialist, introduced students to contemporary approaches to digital storytelling and interactive media production. Through intensive hands-on sessions, the participants explored how stories can be visually conceived, digitally produced, and effectively communicated across multiple platforms.

Students worked with a range of digital tools to create multimedia narratives, integrating visuals, audio, data, and interactivity to produce engaging and socially relevant stories. Prof. Rajaram guided students in combining creativity with technological proficiency to craft content that resonates with audiences in an era of digital convergence.

A key highlight of the workshop was the exploration of Generative Artificial Intelligence (AI) and its emerging role in the creative process. Sessions demonstrated how AI tools can assist in ideation, visual generation, and narrative structuring, thereby opening up new possibilities for storytelling in journalism, communication, and the media industries.

The workshop encouraged students to think critically about the evolving relationship between technology and storytelling, equipping them with essential digital skills for the rapidly transforming media landscape.
