The Center for Advanced Studies in Electronics Sciences and Technology (CASEST), University of Hyderabad (UoH) organized a half-day workshop on 9th January 2026 on ‘Open-Source Chip Design and Verification’ under the convenorship of Dr. Anjali Priya and Dr. S. L. D. Varma, in collaboration with AsFigo Technologies, UK. AsFigo is a startup pioneering opensource chip design and verification across the globe. This workshop provided a deep understanding of integrating modern automation and open-source methodologies into silicon workflows. By using a Generative AI tool, participants were able to gain experience in chip design and verification.

Mr. Srinivasan Venkataraman, CEO & Founder of AsFigo Technology, Prof. Samrat L. Sabat, Head of CASEST, Prof. Ghanashyam Krishna, Sr. Professor, and Dr.Bhawna were participated in the workshop. More than 70 faculty members and students from CASEST, as well as external participants, were present both offline and online (via MS Teams), enthusiastically participating in the event.
This workshop is expected to make the students industry-ready in a key area of current technology. CASEST proposes to have long term collaboration with AsFigo technology for training students on Verification methodology along with hands on. It will enable the students to get initial exposure in testing and verification, which is a major requirement for the electronics industry in India
