Prof. Aruna Bhikshu, Professor, head of Department of Dance, University of Hyderabad, has been conferred the Yadadri National Excellence Award 2026 for her significant contribution to the field of Kuchipudi. The award was presented under the auspices of the Yadadri National Dance Festival 2026, organised by Kalakruti Nrityalaya. The award recognises and honours Prof. Bhikshu’s sustained artistic and academic contribution to the field of Kuchipudi.
Prof. Bhikshu was among several eminent personalities from the field of Indian classical arts who were honoured on the occasion. The other awardees included SNA Amrit Awardee V. A. K. Rangarao, Padma Shri and SNA Awardee Guru Geeta Chandran, SNA Awardee Dr. Maddali Usha Gayatri, and renowned Odissi exponent Sharon Lowen.
Her achievement brings distinction to the Department of Dance and the University of Hyderabad.
