The Patent Office, Government of India, has granted Patent No. 599900 (Application No. 202211074244) to the Chairman, Defence Research & Development Organisation (DRDO), and the the Advanced Centre of Research in High Energy Materials (ACRHEM) {Presently known as DIA-CoE} at the University of Hyderabad (UoH). The patent, filed on December 21, 2022, and officially granted on August 20, 2026, is titled “N1,N1,N1,N4,N4,N4-hexaethylbut-2-yne-1,4-diaminiumdodecaborane: The Next Generation Solid Rocket Propellant Fuel”.

Invented by researchers Dr.  Muddamarri Hanumantha Rao (ACRHEM) and Prof. Muralidharan (ACRHEM and School of Chemistry) Krishnamurthi, the invention details the synthesis, structural elucidation, and energetic properties of a novel boron-, hydrogen-, and nitrogen-rich energetic compound designated as BAM-H24.
