The UoH–HAL Centre of Excellence in Digital Twin Technology at the University of Hyderabad successfully concluded a two-week Executive Training Programme on LabVIEW-Based Automated Test Equipment (ATE) Development, held from 7th to 18th September 2026 for HAL engineers.
The programme provided intensive hands-on training in LabVIEW, data acquisition, instrumentation, signal processing, automated testing and ATE development, with a strong emphasis on practical engineering applications. A total of 21 HAL engineers successfully completed the programme.
The two-week programme covered the complete workflow of LabVIEW-based ATE development, beginning with LabVIEW programming and DAQ fundamentals, application architecture and ATE GUI development, followed by instrument connectivity, UUT test sequencing, production operator interfaces, switching and custom-card integration, traceable test reporting, database management and ATE troubleshooting. The training also covered MIL-STD-1553 and ARINC 429 communication, along with practical fault diagnosis and complete UUT test execution, providing participants with hands-on exposure to the development, operation, data management and troubleshooting of industrial and aerospace-oriented ATE systems.
The programme was inaugurated on 7th September 2026, in the presence of Mr. A. V. Muralikrishna, General Manager, HAL–Hyderabad, as the Chief Guest, who emphasized the importance of strengthening industry–academia partnerships for developing industry-ready skills and technologies. Dr. Gaurav Singhal, Director, CHESS, DRDO Hyderabad, the Guest of Honour, appreciated the University of Hyderabad’s lead initiative in Digital Twin technology, describing it as a niche and emerging area where sustained capacity building is essential for meeting the future needs of the industry
The Valedictory Session was held on 18 September 2026 and was graced by Ms. Uma N. Rao, Chief of Projects, HAL–Hyderabad, as the Chief Guest and Prof. A. K. Bhatnagar, University of Hyderabad, as the Guest of Honour. The programme was coordinated by Prof. Samrat L. Sabat, faculty coordinator of the CoE in DTT of University of Hyderabad,
Ms. Uma N. Rao appreciated the efforts of the UoH–HAL CoE in providing specialized training to HAL engineers in the niche area of ATE development and emphasized the importance of strengthening HAL–University of Hyderabad industry–academia interaction. Prof. A. K. Bhatnagar also appreciated the initiative and highlighted the value of sustained collaboration between industry and academia.
Prof. M. Ghanashyam Krishna, Member, Steering Committee, UoH–HAL CoE, was also present and explained the importance of Digital Twin technology and its relevance to advanced engineering and aerospace applications, while highlighting the broader objectives of the Centre of Excellence.
The training program was coordinated by Prof. Samrat L. Sabat, faculty coordinator of the UoH–HAL CoE with the help of the lead trainer Ms. Deepti Singh. Prof. Samrat L. Sabat, welcomed the guests and highlighted the objectives and outcomes of the programme.
The successful completion of the programme marks another important step towards strengthening the HAL–University of Hyderabad partnership and advancing industry-oriented training, technology development and collaborative research through the UoH–HAL Centre of Excellence.
