The University of Hyderabad hosted a 11-member delegation from the State of Alabama on September 23, 2025, to discuss potential collaborations in future-ready education; Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) research, and transnational programs. The visit aimed to strengthen global partnerships and workforce development, aligning with Alabama’s vision for international cooperation.

Vice Chancellor Prof. B.J. Rao briefed the delegation on the aspects of Innovation in academic programs; strength of integrated research at the university and existing collaborations with well-known institutions globally.

The Director of the Office for International Affairs, Prof Bramanandam Manavathi, emphasized the importance of internationalization and expressed a strong interest in collaborating with universities in the State of Alabama. University of Hyderabad is open to establishing dual and joint degree programs through formalized MoUs and is committed to supporting workforce development in alignment with the teaching and research needs of universities in Alabama.

Dr. Eric Mackay, State Superintendent of Alabama State Department of Education gave a presentation on behalf of the delegation and expressed the possibilities of Student exchanges, Joint degree programs and Research collaborations.

Discussions with other top officials from the various Schools of the University covered key areas, including:

– Alabama’s education and workforce development vision
– International collaboration for future-ready education
– Opportunities in joint/joint/dual degrees, certifications, and offshore programs
– Faculty and research collaboration in STEM and applied sciences
– STEM educator needs in Alabama

 

A seminar for students followed, highlighting opportunities for international students in education and workforce development.

This visit coordinated by the office of International Affairs marks a significant step towards potential long-term partnerships between the University of Hyderabad and Alabama, fostering innovation and academic excellence.
