Lakshmi Pradeep, an alumna of the Integrated Masters Program (with specialization in Sociology) from University of Hyderabad (Batch of 2010-2015) has been selected for a post-doctoral fellowship at the International Institute for Asian Studies at University of Leiden, Netherlands. She recently defended her Ph.D. from the Department of Asian Studies at National University of Singapore and also holds an MPhil degree in Sociology from Jawaharlal Nehru University.

Lakshmi Pradeep specializes in the fields of Environmental Anthropology, Science and Technology Studies, and Island Studies. Her doctoral research was an ethnography on coral conservation, climate change, and island protection in the Lakshadweep Islands of India. In addition to this, she is a project partner in co-creating a ‘Sea Lexicon’ for the ‘Southern Collective,’ an ongoing initiative of the Transdisciplinary Collaborations on the Northern Indian Ocean funded by the Social Science Research Council. The Sea Lexicon is a collaborative endeavor that collects sea words that animates the lives of coastal communities in various languages across the Indian Ocean.
