Dr. Shiva Ram Male, Assistant Professor, School of Medical Sciences, University of Hyderabad (UoH) received consortium authorship for his participation in the TWCF–INTREPID Consortium, an international multidisciplinary initiative funded by the Templeton World Charity Foundation.

Dr. Shiva Ram Male
The INTREPID Consortium brings together leading researchers from neuroscience, vision sciences, cognitive science, philosophy, and psychology to conduct adversarial collaborations that empirically test competing theories of consciousness namely Integrated Information Theory (IIT), Neurorepresentationalism (NREP), and Active Inference / Predictive Processing. As evidenced by multiple peer-reviewed PLOS-ONE study protocols, the consortium is currently implementing three major large-scale experimental programmes addressing fundamental questions on conscious awareness.
Dr. Shiva Ram Male’s involvement in the INTREPID Consortium began in 2023 during his postdoctoral tenure at Harvard Medical School, Harvard University, where this collaborative research initiative was initiated. His continued participation reflects sustained international engagement and scholarly contribution at the intersection of brain, vision, perception, and theories of consciousness, with formal recognition of consortium membership in published scientific outputs.
Prof. Ramesh Kumar Mishra, Dean, School of Medical Sciences, congratulated Dr. Shiva ram on this achievement, noting that such globally visible collaborations significantly enhance the University of Hyderabad’s academic standing and reinforce its commitment to frontier, interdisciplinary research.
