Dr. Banani Basistha, IoE Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the University of Hyderabad (UoH), presented a research paper titled “The Dynamics of Thought Transformation: A Cognitive Perspective on Kaikeyī’s Decision-Making Process in Ayodhya Kanda of Ramayana” co-authored by Prof. J.S.R. Prasad, Department of Sanskrit Studies, UoH and Dr. Arif Ali, Associate Professor, Department of Psychiatric Social Work, IHBAS, Delhi, won the Second-Best Paper Award. The presented paper has been selected for publication in the conference proceedings by Springer at the 2nd International Mind, Brain, and Consciousness Conference (MBCC 2025), held from 4th to 7th June 2025, hosted by IIT Mandi, Himachal Pradesh brought together interdisciplinary scholars from across the country to explore emerging intersections in neuroscience, philosophy, and Indian Knowledge Systems (IKS).

The presented paper has been selected for publication in the conference proceedings by Springer. The recognition highlights the paper’s contemporary relevance in the field of Indian Knowledge Systems (IKS), as it thoughtfully bridges ancient scriptural insights and modern psychology.
This paper is a part of her postdoctoral research in the area of Indian Psychology carried out under the esteemed mentorship of Prof. J.S.R Prasad, Department of Sanskrit Studies, UoH. This achievement adds to the growing contributions to Indian psychological thought and further strengthens the University of Hyderabad’s engagement with interdisciplinary research at national and international forums.
