Dr. Murali Banavoth, Assistant Professor at School of Chemistry, University of Hyderabad (UoH) is conferred with the prestigious National Academy of Sciences NASI-Young Scientist Platinum Jubilee Awards 2019 in the field of Chemical Sciences. The award has been instituted by NASI to recognise promise, creativity and excellence in young scientists.
Dr. Murali receives this award in recognition of his notable contributions in the Solar Energy research as a young scientist under the age of 35. Dr. Banavoth will receive a cash award along with other benefits at NASI. Dr. Banavoth will receive this award from the President, NASI during the Annual General Body Meeting.
Dr. Banavoth has also been bestowed with the prestigious young scientist award at the 105th Indian Science Congress on March 20th 2018 and also from the International society for Energy, Environment and Sustainability on Jan 1st 2018. Earlier in July 2017, he was awarded the young scientist award for 2nd BRICS (Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa) meeting held during July 11-15, 2017 at Hangzhou, China.
Dr. Murali Banavoth after obtaining his Ph.D., from Indian Institute of Science, moved to King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST) at Solar Center as a postdoctoral associate and carried out pioneering work in the field of hybrid functional materials for solar harvesting. Dr. Banavoth’s contribution to the photovoltaic (Solar Cells) research is evident from his outstanding 45 publications in Nature, Advanced Materials, JACS, Angew. Chem., etc. are a few to name. His research interests are broadly classified as organic, inorganic, and hybrid solar cells and photovoltaics.
