Rahul, former Research Scholar from School of Engineering Sciences and Technology, University of Hyderabad will be awarded with PhD by the UoH.

The title of his work is “Influence of Parent Metal Microstructure and Post Weld Heat Treatments on the Microstructure and Mechanical Properties of Ti-6Al-4V Friction Welds“ under the supervision of Dr. KV Rajulapati. He defended his thesis work on 19/01/2018.

His works incorporates, friction welding studies on three parent metals, namely as-received parent metal in mill-annealed condition, α+β treated parent metal and β treated parent metal, show that starting parent metal condition influences the microstructure and mechanical properties of the welds. The salient observation in this investigation is that the influence of post weld heat treatment on the mechanical properties in respect of the friction welds is different from that reported for fusion welds.
