G20 Inaugural session started with a lighting of lamp with the key members of G20 followed by the inaugural address by Dr. P.K. Mishra, Principal Secretary to Prime Minister. There was a panel discussion with the key members Shri Amitabh Kant ji; Secretary, Ministry of Higher Education, Government of India, Shri Sanjay Murthy; Chairman, University Grants Commission Prof. M. Jagadesh Kumar; Director General of the RIS, Prof. Sachin Chaturvedi; followed by the cultural event of dance theme – “Dharthe kare pookarki”.
It is also privileged to have our External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar, join us in a subsequent session. He interacted with students on this programme. Our Honourable Shri. Dharmendra Pradhan, Minister of Education & Skill Development welcomed all the students to the G20 connect finale programme.
Our Honourable Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi ji has referred to today’s youth as nation-builders and leaders of tomorrow. Our theme for the G20 – “Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam” (One Earth, One Family, One Future) – establishes that during our Presidency we will “work to promote a universal sense of oneness” to address the challenges that mankind as “one family” faces today.
In accordance with the Prime Minister’s vision, under his Presidency, they will hold 200 G20 meetings in over 50 locations across the length and breadth of our motherland. He said that we Indians have before us a unique opportunity and a profound responsibility to showcase our rich cultural heritage and diversity, tourism potential and development prowess so that the world derives value from their interactions with us.
Prime Minister Modi has asked all of us to join together to make India’s G20 Presidency “a presidency of healing, harmony and hope”. Over the course of the day, we are be provided with important inputs and information on India’s G20 Presidency.
Prime Minister Modi said, as G20 Chief Coordinator, he invites all the student participants, to not only bring ‘G20’ into our lives but also become its ‘Brand Ambassador’ in disseminating information on G20 Presidency to more and more people.
India’s G20 Presidency is a mega National Event. Many students came together and participated in it, immersed in it, propagated it so that it becomes etched into their memories for all times to come.
