The NSS Cell, University of Hyderabad (UoH), in collaboration with Satkarm, a voluntary organization, organized a meaningful event to observe World Blood Donor Day and Green Udaan Clean-up Drive on June 14, 2025. The event aimed to raise awareness about the importance of blood donation and promote environmental sustainability.

Chief Guest Dr. Anupama Row, Chief Medical Officer, Health Centre, UoH, emphasized the significance of voluntary blood donations in saving lives and improving public health outcomes.

Dr. B. Krishnaiah, NSS Coordinator, highlighted the theme “Give Blood, Give Hope: Together We Save Lives,” which aims to promote blood donation and ensure a reliable national blood supply.

The event also included a clean-up drive, where NSS and Satkarm volunteers collected plastic waste, glass bottles, and other debris from the South Campus shopping complex and School of Life Sciences. The volunteers worked tirelessly to make the surroundings neat and clean, promoting environmental sustainability and ecological balance.

Anaaya Ghosh, Co-founder of Satkarm, emphasized the organization’s commitment to environmental conservation and community service. Arushi, a Satkarm volunteer, also spoke about the importance of giving back to the community.

The participants observed a two-minute silence to pay tribute to the recent Ahmedabad plane crash victims and took a pledge to donate blood regularly.

Guest of Honour Dr. M. Nagamani, Associate Professor, School of Computer and Information Sciences, appreciated the service of the volunteers and distributed certificates to them.

The event highlighted the importance of community service, environmental sustainability, and blood donation. The NSS Cell and Satkarm demonstrated their commitment to promoting social responsibility and civic engagement among the university community.
