Mr. Hafis C and Mr. Rizvan P.S, Doctoral candidates, Department of History, School of Social Sciences, University of Hyderabad (UoH) successfully presented their papers in the 56th Seminar for Arabian Studies conducted by the International Association for the Study of Arabia (IASA). Both Hafis and Rizvan are working under the supervision of Prof. Suchandra Ghosh, Department of History, School of Social Sciences.
Hafis C’s paper was a comparative study of ‘Aden’ and ‘Malabar’, tracing the trade and religious networks between a South Arabian port and the Malabar Coast.
Rizvan P.S’s work focussed on culling out the transoceanic connections of Early Historic Tamilakam and the Arabian Peninsula.
Both their works gained significant recognition during the event which was co-hosted by Moesgaard Museum and Aarhus University, Denmark from 4th to 6th August 2023. They were supported by the IoE’s travel grant to present their respective research papers.
