The students of Department of Music, S N School of Arts and Communication at the University of Hyderabad have been honoured with prestigious awards, a testament to the significance of their outstanding research contributions. The students presented their research papers at the 5th 3-Day National Seminar on ‘Music and Technology’. The esteemed organisation Naad Nartan thoughtfully orchestrated this prestigious event from 21-23 September 2023 in Jaipur. These research papers are published in the Naad Nartan Journal of Dance and Music, a UGC CARE-listed Journal.
Excellent Research Paper Awards
Mohit Kumar Mehta received the Excellent Research Paper Award for his outstanding work titled “Music Preferences and Consumption Habits among Students of Hyderabad University: A Study Based on Digital Music Platforms.” His research analyses students’ listening patterns and preferences, revealing how digital platforms shape their musical experiences. Dr. Pragya Pyasi guided him for this paper.
Kamalasri V also earned the Excellent Research Paper Award for her paper “Musical Aspects of ‘Mallari’ (with special reference to the traditions at Tiruvarur Tyagaraja Temple).” Her study delves into the intricate musical elements of Mallari, focusing on the rich traditions associated with the Tiruvarur Tyagaraja Temple. She was guided by Dr. Pavani D for this paper.
Youngest Researcher Award
Saugat Mani Rasaily is honoured with the Youngest Researcher Award by Naad Nartan for his paper “Comparative Analysis of Ghazals and Nazrul’s Ghazal: Exploring Musical and Cultural Dimensions”, co-authored by Rakiba Islam Oyeshi. This paper compares traditional Ghazals and Nazrul’s Ghazal, exploring their musical and cultural significance in depth. Dr. Pragya Pyasi guided this paper.
