The Amenities Canteen, located at the heart of the Vivekananda Amenities Centre, was inaugurated today, i.e., Friday, 20 September 2024, by the Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor, Prof. B. J. Rao. The Registrar, Dr. Devesh Nigam, was the invitee for the inauguration programme.

The Deans, Heads of the academic units, statutory officers, administrative functionaries, student organisation representatives, UHTA and Non-Teaching Association representatives graced the occasion.

Prof. V. Srinivasa Rao, Dean of the Students’ Welfare, delivered the introductory remarks and appreciated the efforts of the Amenities Canteen Committee, a dedicated team of individuals who have worked tirelessly to ensure the canteen’s functionality. The DSW also informed that food safety standards, hygiene, cleanliness and accessibility of the food are the main motives in establishing the canteen.

He stated that the canteen is for students, faculty, non-teaching staff & every stakeholder of the University community. He informed all the guests that the delivery person would be available in the canteen very soon. He requested everyone to make use of the facility.

The Registrar, Dr. Devesh Nigam, appreciated the efforts of O/o the DSW & the Amenities Canteen Committee in bringing the canteen to function. He said that a healthy mind resides in a healthy body and that healthy & hygienic food is required for a healthy body.

The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. B. J. Rao, appreciated the initiative of making the Amenities Canteen open after a long time. He asked the Vendor, Mr. Ravinder Reddy (RR), a seasoned professional with a proven track record in the food industry, to maintain the food standards and hygiene at any cost. He also promised that the infrastructure provided by the University would be well maintained. This assurance is a testament to the University’s commitment to providing a safe and healthy dining experience.

The Vice-Chancellor reiterated that the Amenities Canteen should be a vibrant platform for all the campus stakeholders. The Vice-Chancellor, who inaugurated the Canteen, also purchased his lunch as the first customer, with the Registrar as its second customer.
