Md Ahsan Habib, an international alumnus and Gold Medalist from Bangladesh, has been elected President of the Theatre Department Alumni Association (TDAA) at Jagannath University (JnU), Dhaka.

He completed his Master of Performing Arts (MPA) at the Sarojini Naidu School of Arts and Communication, University of Hyderabad (UoH), where he graduated as the overall topper and received the prestigious Sri G.L.N. Murthy Memorial Medal at the university’s 25th Convocation. During his academic tenure at the SN School, he actively contributed to performance design and conducted technical orientation sessions for junior cohorts.

The election took place on August 28, 2026, during the association’s first biennial assembly in Dhaka. Alumni gathered on campus alongside remote voters to ratify the founding constitution and elect the organization’s new leadership. In his capacity as President, Mr. Habib aims to foster cross-border academic exchange, build professional mentorship channels for young theatre practitioners, and establish a dedicated performance archive.
Reflecting on his journey, Mr. Habib noted that his time as an international scholar at UoH significantly broadened his understanding of collaborative arts and technical discipline. He expressed that stepping into this leadership role at Jagannath University provides an opportunity to give back to the community where his artistic foundation began, while carrying forward the academic rigor nurtured during his years at the SN School.
The newly elected 13-member executive committee will serve a two-year term focused on alumni welfare, technical workshops, and cross-institutional collaboration.
