Dr. Duvvuri Subbarao, Former Governor, reserve bank of India delivered the 6th Lecture on the topic: “Leadership Lessons from my career as a public servant”, as part of the University Golden Jubilee & SMS Silver Jubilee Distinguished Lecture Series on 24-October-2025 at the School of Management studies central seminar hall, east campus.

The Lecture highlighted the role character and following one’s dharma
Drawing from his rich experience as a public servant and as governors, Reserve Bank of India, Dr. Subbarao offered the following lessons to the audience
• Don’t be discouraged by early setbacks. Life and career are a long haul.
• Whatever you have to do, do it with passion.
• Keep your ear close to the ground.
• Don’t miss the obvious.
• You cannot be too busy to do what is important to you.
• You learn something new every day.
• Character matters for leadership.

Finally differencing Character and Personality Dr. Subbrao noted
Extrovertism, confidence, energy, enthusiasm, a sense of humour and a broad range of interest as the attributes of Personality; while explaining Honesty, truth, trust, respect, loyalty, courage of conviction and humility as the attributes of Character

The session ended with an insightful Q&A with the students on a range of topics from Current account convertibility, inflation, interest rates, and internationalization of the rupee.
Speaking on the occasion, Prof. BJ Rao Honorable Vice Chancellor of the University opined that these lessons coming from one of the most successful public servants of India throw light on very practical lessons of life
