The Office of the Dean of Students’ Welfare organized an informative orientation programme focused on Students’ Group Mediclaim and Group Personal Accident Insurance Policy held on Wednesday, November 12, 2025, at 3:00 p.m. in the DSW conference hall. It was specially conducted for the newly elected 68 Student Council members, 2025-26 such as office bearers, members of the ICC (GS-CASH), School Board Members (PG & Research), School Councillors Members, and School Board cum Councillor member.

The programme began with a welcome address by Prof. N. Rukma Rekha, Deputy DSW – 1. She highlighted the importance of Group medical insurance orientation for Student Council members. She introduced the key speakers for the session: Mr. Vijay Hakile and Mr. Syed Shafi from M/s. Emedlife Insurance Broking Services Ltd., as well as Mr. Sujith and Mr. Neeraj, representatives from M/s. Ericson Insurance TPA Pvt. Ltd.

Following this, Prof. V. Srinivasa Rao, the Dean of Students’ Welfare, addressed the participants with insights into the critical roles played by various stakeholders in the insurance process. He emphasized the importance of collaboration among students, administrative staff, and insurance providers for smooth process.

Mr. Vijay Hakile then delivered an in-depth PowerPoint presentation that addressed crucial topics, including policy benefits, standard coverage during hospitalization, daycare procedures, eligibility for room rent, common exclusions, non-medical expenses, the hospitalization process, and the cashless claim process. He also explained the necessary documentation for claim reimbursements and the timelines for claim intimation. Important contact information for further assistance was provided as well.

The session ended with a Q&A session between student council members and the insurance representative, where Student council members had clarified their doubts regarding the cashless claims, reimbursement claims, and also about the consumables items, which are covered, and non-consumables items, which are not covered under the insurance policy.
