The Skill Development Centre, School of Life Sciences, University of Hyderabad conducted the “pre-clinical drug discovery workshop” during 4th to 8th November, 2024 on a pilot basis.

This small group of trainees received detailed one to one hands on training in the areas of cell culture, drug design and in vitro testing. The participants were trained in setting up a cell culture lab, reviving mammalian cell cultures, maintaining and propagation of the cultures and storing them for long term use. Besides this, drug screening on the cell cultures was conducted by the participants using MTT assay, confocal microscopy and flow cytometry techniques.

Overall, the training was extensive and has laid platform for conducting such training programs on a larger scale in future.
