Preeti Raghunath, PhD Research Scholar at the Department of Communication, University of Hyderabad and formerly with the UNESCO Chair on Community Media at the University has been awarded a travel grant by the International Association for Media and Communication Research (IAMCR) to be a part of the IAMCR 2018 Oregon, United States from June 20-24, 2018 under the Global Media Policy Working Group and Law Section. The theme of the conference is Reimagining Sustainability: Communication and Media Research in a Changing World.
Preeti will be presenting two papers, as part of the Global Media Policy Working Group, and the Law Section of the IAMCR. The first paper is on the colonial broadcasting apparatus, and the second is on data protection legislation and human security.
The IAMCR travel grant for US$ 1,500 enables scholars from low and middle income countries to be a part of the conference. This year 12 women and 5 men from 13 different countries were awarded assistance for more than US$22,000.
