Prof. J. Bheemaiah, faculty at the Centre for Comparative Literature, School of Humanities, University of Hyderabad has been conferred the Ugadi Sahithi Puraskaram (Ugadi Literary Award) for translation. He received the award in a programme jointly organised by the Jyothsna Kalapeetam and Thyagarayagana Mahasabha at Kala Subba Rao Kala Vedika, Chikkadapally, Hyderabad on 8th April, 2022.
Prof. Bheemaiah was also felicitated on the occasion of Jyothsna Ugadi Sahithi Puraskaram by Prof. Avula Manjulatha, formerly Vice-Chancellor and Prof. Gowri Shanker formerly Registrar, Potti Sriramulu Telugu University, Hyderabad in the presence of other notable litterateurs and awardees.
Prof. J. Bheemaiah has contributed to the corpus of translation of Telugu poetry into English. His translations have been published in the ‘Oxford India Anthology’ brought out by the Oxford University Press.
