The Centre for Nanotechnology, University of Hyderabad (UoH) with the support from the Institution of Eminence organized a distinguished lecture entitled “Novel Q-phase materials with Extraordinary Properties: A New Frontier in Solid State Materials and Applications” by Prof. Jagdish Narayan, The John Fan Family Distinguished Chair Professor (MSE, ECE, and Physics), North Carolina State University, USA on 15th Nov. 2023 in the Seminar Hall, School of Life Sciences. The lecture was presided by Prof. M. Ghanashyam Krishna, Director, Institute of Eminence (IOE), University of Hyderabad.
Prof. Narayan discussed their recent discovery of a new phase of materials (eg. Q-Carbon and Q-Silicon) that has significant potential for applications in High-temperature superconductivity, Quantum computation, Electronic devices and Nanotechnology.
Faculty members, Scholars and Students from different schools of UoH and from other institutes have attended the lecture. Laboratory visits and demos were also organized on the same day for students from other institutes, including RGKUT-Basar.
Several interaction meetings were organized with the speaker during 13-16 Nov. 2023.
