Professor Rekha Pande of University of Hyderabad (UoH) has been nominated as the Peace ambassador for the South Asia region by the International Women’s Peace Group (IWPG), Korea for her work on Gender issues. IWPG in an International Organisation that works with leading group of women for the cessation of war and world peace. It transcends borders, races and beliefs and exercises mothers’ heart and minds protecting children in peace works and strongly believes that women can be the forerunners in the establishment of peace in the world. The mission of this organisation is that, as mothers, to protect our children from all forms of war and to terminate global conflicts. It aims to accomplish world peace so that we can pass it on as a legacy for our future generations. It cooperates with women in both national and international communities to establish a world of peace without war. This organization also urges, the unification of all religions and call upon the politicians to legislate and enact an international law for cessation of wars and establishment of world peace. It has branch offices in every country so that all women work as one and become peace messengers for world peace. It believes that women are the light for the future generation, cherishing each other and protecting life by possessing a heart of peace and order that lasts forever. It strongly believes that all women of the world become one without any social hierarchy. When 3.6 billion women of the world unite as one, a world without war and of peace will come true where our children can live safe and sound. This is what women as mothers want, and it is our calling.

The organisation has nominated Prof. Rekha Pande because of her work on Gender and Religion. Rekha Pande is a Professor and Head of the History Department and a Joint faculty in the Centre for Women’s Studies, at University UoH. She has been the founding member of two Centres for Women’s Studies, one at Maulana Azad National Urdu University and the other at the University of Hyderabad. She has to her credit ten books. Her work is in the Inter disciplinary area of History and Women’s Studies.
