The Indira Gandhi Memorial (IGM) Library, University of Hyderabad, in collaboration with Taylor & Francis, successfully organised the “Research Excellence Summit: Advancing Viksit Bharat 2047 through Research Innovation” on Thursday, 13 November 2025, at the Dr. Zakir Husain Auditorium. The event was conducted as part of the National Library Week celebrations, bringing together researchers, faculty members, and academic leaders from diverse disciplines to discuss the future of India’s research ecosystem in alignment with the national vision of Viksit Bharat 2047.

The Summit featured distinguished speakers, including Dr. Devesh Nigam, Registrar, who outlined the University’s current publication landscape, scholarly output, and the need to initiate additional academic programmes to enhance research productivity. Dr. O. Sivasankar Prasad, University Librarian (I/c), highlighted the ongoing initiatives of the IGM Library, encouraged students to actively engage in scholarly writing and publishing, and detailed the library’s expanding research support services. Ms. Rajni Dhingra formally welcomed the chief guest, speakers, and participants.

 

Senior representatives from Taylor & Francis—Ms. Amanda Ward (SVP, Journals Publishing), Mr. Abhishek Bhardwaj (Vice President, Marketing), Dr. Madhurima Kahali (Head, Academic Relations & Partnerships), and Mr. Rajesh Dey (Senior Commissioning Editor)—provided valuable insights on open access publishing, research support services, the role of Taylor & Francis in strengthening India’s research ecosystem, and the transformative impact of Artificial Intelligence on research and academic publishing. They also underscored the importance of research within the vision of Viksit Bharat, emphasizing that advancing research capabilities directly supports India’s developmental aspirations and aligns with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) to promote inclusive, sustainable, and future-ready growth.

The Summit covered key thematic areas, including research excellence for national development, strategic publishing for global visibility, research integrity and ethics, and innovation through AI. Participants gained deep insights into responsible research practices, effective publishing strategies, and the ethical use of emerging technologies to enhance research quality, impact, and visibility.

The event reaffirmed a collective commitment to strengthening India’s research landscape as the nation progresses toward the goals of Viksit Bharat 2047, with research excellence positioned as a cornerstone of national development and global academic competitiveness. The Summit concluded with a formal vote of thanks delivered by Dr. O. Sivasankar Prasad, acknowledging the contributions of all speakers, participants, and collaborators who made the event a success.
