Ms. Smrutirekha Padhi, an alumna of the University of Hyderabad (M.Sc. Chemistry, 2023-2025), has been awarded a Ph.D. position under the prestigious Marie Skłodowska-Curie Doctoral Actions Network (MSCA-DN) Fellowship. She will be joining the Institute of Organic Chemistry, Polish Academy of Sciences (IOC-PAS), Warsaw, Poland, under the supervision of Professor Daniel T Gryko, who also serves as the director of institute of organic chemistry, PAS.

The PhD will be carried out within the PHOTOBRANE project, where her research will focus on the development of photo-switchable ultrathin membranes for molecular separation. In addition to her core research, she will engage in interdisciplinary training, scientific communication, outreach, and active participation in international network activities. Throughout the programme, she will also undertake specialised coursework, mandatory MSCA-DN training activities, and collaborative research tasks across partner institutions, all of which will significantly contribute to her scientific growth and professional development.
For her Master’s thesis, she carried out research on “Friedel Crafts reaction of BH adducts with Pyrene” under the supervision of Professor D. Basavaiah at the School of Chemistry, University of Hyderabad.
