The National Service Scheme (NSS) in University of Hyderabad has organised one day “State Level Youth Convention on Sustainable Lifestyle” on 14th Nov, 2015 in view of Children’s Day in Dr. B. R. Ambedkar Auditorium.
There were total 250 NSS volunteers from different Universities in Telangana State has participated. The volunteers have come from Osmania University, Kakatiya University, Shatavahana University, JNTU, Mahatma Gandhi University and University of Hyderabad said Dr. V. Srinivasa Rao, NSS Coordinator, UoH.
Dr. M. Satyanarayana Reddy, State NSS Officer was the Chief Guest in the Inaugural session. He spoke about facilities that are available to the NSS volunteers at the state and national level. Dr. B. Rajashekar, Dean-School of Management, as a Guest of Honour, spoke how to protect the environment. Prof. Panchananda Mohanthy, Dean-School of Humanities chaired the Inaugural session. Dr. Raviteja, NSS Extension Officer, and Smt. Padma Gunde acted as resource persons.
Dr. R. S. Praveen Kumar, IPS, Secretary, TSSWREIS, as a Chief Guest, and Sri Indraganti Mohan Krishna, Telugu Film Director, as Guest of Honour in the Valedictory session, spoke about importance of social responsibility to the NSS volunteers. Dr. Sreepati Ramudu Chaired the valedictory session.
This entire programme has been coordinated by Dr. V. Srinivasa Rao, NSS Coordinator, in association with State NSS office. He said these kind of workshops on societal connected themes would be more useful to the students in general and NSS volunteers in particular.
During the valedictory session some of the NSS volunteers and Programme Officers have been awarded by the Green Warriors, NGO, for their best contribution to protect the environment. Dr. V. Srinivasa Rao, NSS Coordinator from UoH was also awarded for his best contribution in terrace gardening.
