Prof. Rajagopal Subramanyam and his research group Mohammad Yusuf Zamal, Shriya Sharma, Vijay Srinivas Lavudiya, and Namrata Dubey under the supervision of Prof. Rajagopal Subramanyam at the Department of Plant Sciences School of Life Sciences University of Hyderabad attended the 12th International Conference Photosynthesis and Hydrogen Energy Research for Sustainability 2024, Oct 13-19 2024, Bahcesehir University, South Campus, Istanbul, Turkey.

The International Photosynthesis Conference on Photosynthesis and Hydrogen Energy Research for Sustainability is organized every year.  It is one of the international conferences where eminent scientists from all over the world participate and present their research work. It also gives a good opportunity for young researchers to participate, collaborate, and present their research work.

Mohammad Yusuf Zamal presented his research work under the theme  “Photosystem I and Bacterial Photosynthesis” entitled “Mitigation effect of high light on the photosynthetic apparatus of Rhodobacter alkalitolerans when grown in an alkaline environment”, while Shriya Sharma presented a poster entitled as “Transcriptomic Analysis of Cyclic Electron Transport Mutants in Chlamydomonas reinhardtii under High Light Stress,” under the theme of “Systems Biology of Photosynthesis: Integration of Genomic, Proteomic, Metabolomic and Bioinformatic Studies” and Vijay Srinivas  presented a poster  titled “Comparative analysis of photosynthetic complexes under high temperature stress in Chlamydomonas reinhardtii, Dunaliella salina and Haematococcus pluvalis. under the theme “Regulation of Photosynthesis, ROS production, and Environmental Stress”. Similarly, Namrata Dubey also presented a poster titled “Reversible Induction of Photosynthetic Complexes to salt stress from Chlamydomonas reinhardtii” under the theme of “Regulation of Photosynthesis, ROS production, and Environmental Stress”

Shriya Sharma won the “Best Poster Award”, one among the 6 selected participants from the poster presentation for various themes.

Participating in the 12th International Conference Photosynthesis and Hydrogen Energy Research for Sustainability -2024 has been a transformative experience for us. It provided a platform to present our research work, receive valuable feedback, and interact with eminent scientists worldwide in the field of photosynthesis and Hydrogen Energy. The insights gained from these interactions will undoubtedly influence our future research and contribute to the advancement of our field.

The students would like to acknowledge the Institute of Eminence, University of Hyderabad, travel grant to support, which has been a great initiative from the IoE grant of the University of Hyderabad to facilitate the research scholars by covering the major travel expenses.
