Ms. Sibani Rath, a Ph.D. student working under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Dhevalapally B. Ramachary, School of Chemistry, University of Hyderabad (UoH) has won the Best Poster Presentation Award titled: “Sustainable Construction of Value-Added Naphthoquinones for Pharmaceuticals” at the International Conference on Chemistry for Sustainability, held at IIT Hyderabad from July 13-16, 2025 and also delivered a talk on the same and felicitated for her work.
Her work demonstrates utilization of one of the abundantly available feed-stock Lawone in high yielding hydrodehydroxylation (HDH) and hydrodechlorination (HDC) strategies to access medicinally important 1,2-naphthoquinones and 1,4-naphthoquinones. These strategies are utilized in the total synthesis of natural products like Miltirone and Vitamin-K3.
