Swachatha program is a continuous activity. It need not be limited to today but it needs to be an ongoing voluntary activity and each of us is a part of it. At University of Hyderabad we have a continuous process of recycling the waste in order to maintain cleanliness said Vic-Chancellor Prof. Appa Rao Podile in his inaugural message on the occasion of initiation of swachatha pakhwada on 2nd September in 2017.

As a part of it a cleanliness program involving a rally of cleanliness has been started from main gate of University of Hyderabad to Savitribai Phule Auditorium Junction to mark the occasion of this cleanliness fortnight from 1st September to 15th September 2017. The program has been initiated under the directive of UGC, MHRD for spreading the message of cleanliness and awareness not only among the students but also in the surrounding areas.

A 15 Day schedule involving several programs and activities across the university and outside involving students, faculty, non teaching staff and other University fraternity has been initiated at University of Hyderabad.

Prof. Appa Rao in his message commended the activities of sanitation and horticulture team to keep the university clean. He urged the whole fraternity to keep up this spirit and maintain the cleanliness across the university. He pointed to the initiatives already taken by the University such as zero waste management and phytogenic management. The rally involved active participation from University fraternity including the VC Professor Appa Rao Podile, PVC2 Prof.Prakash Babu, DSW Prof. Debasish Acharya, Deputy DSW 1 and chairman of swachatha pakhwada committee Prof. Darla Venkateswara Rao, Deputy DSW2 and member of the committee Dr.G. Padmaja, Director, physical education Dr K V Rajasekhar Assistant Registrar sanitation and horticulture and convenor of the program Sri B Chandrasekhar, joint Registrar Sri M. Sudhakar, NSS coordinator Dr V Srinivasa Rao, other faculty, officers, non teaching staff and students. The cleanliness program ended at the Savitri Bai Phule Auditorium Junction and concluded with a vote of thanks from the DSW and Associates.
