The NSS cell, University of Hyderabad celebrated the Swachh Bharat Diwas and birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi as a culmination of Swahhata Hi Seva – 2024 on 2-10-2024 in the conference hall of the Registrar, University of Hyderabad.
Chief guest Dr. Devesh Nigam and Dr. B. Krishnaiah, the co-ordinator, NSS, University of Hyderabad garlanded the photograph of Mahatma Gandhi and paid their tributes. Dr. Bhimsingh, the Programme officer, Dr. Bashetty Latha, Associate Professor of the Department of Telugu and the NSS volunteers paid their floral tributes to Mahatma.
Addressing the gathering, chief guest Dr. Devesh Nigam, the Registrar of the University of Hyderabad said that NSS has taken up a variety of activities on and off the University campus recently. He appreciated and congratulated the participation of NSS volunteers, the NSS Programme officer, and the Coordinator for their continued efforts to involve the student community in social service activities as a part of Swachhata Hi Seva – 2024.
He wished that the NSS would take up more community-based activities and reach out to rural society to bring about social change for the progress of the society, which our father of the nation Mahatma Gandhi dreamt of.
Dr. B. Krishnaiah, NSS Coordinator presented the report of the activities organized during the Swachhat Pakhwada and Swachhata Hi Seva – 2024, i. e. from 1 September to 15 September 2024 and 17 September to 2 October 2024.
The NSS conducted competitions such as Quiz, Essay Writing, Poetry recitation, Painting and Drawing, and Model Making from the Waste (Waste to Best) on the themes related to Swachhata Hai Seva – 2024. He said that the NSS cell is planning to go to a village special camp soon. He thanked the university administration, horticulture and sanitation departments, Dr. Bhimsingh, the NSS Programme officer, and the volunteers who supported and participated in every event and made it successful.
Later, the Registrar and the Coordinator distributed certificates to the winners.
