We are proud to announce that Koduri Mani Sai, an alumnus of the School of Medical Sciences, University of Hyderabad’s 5-yrs Integrated MSc in Optometry and Vision Sciences batch 2015-21, has become a fully qualified optometrist in the United Kingdom. Successfully navigating the General Optical Council (GOC) overseas registration process, Manisai, cleared the interview stage with flying colours, showcasing the in-depth knowledge and rigorous training provided by UoH’s Integrated MSc curriculum.

Upon application, Manisai enrolled in the UK’s pre-registration scheme, where they refined their clinical skills under close supervision, swiftly meeting all Stage 1 and Stage 2 competencies. This accomplishment speaks volumes about his dedication and the robust educational foundation received at UoH. Demonstrating exceptional clinical expertise, he completed the pre-registration requirements in 17 months and passed the Objective Structured Clinical Examination (OSCE) on the first attempt, officially authorizing him to practice independently. Manisai is the first UoH alumni to get this accolade. With a Skilled Worker visa, Manisai is now an independent practitioner in the UK and a member of the prestigious College of Optometrists, United Kingdom.

The Integrated MSc Optometry curriculum at UoH plays a critical role in shaping optometrists who meet both national needs and global standards, preparing graduates to excel in diverse clinical and professional settings worldwide and gaining access to invaluable resources and professional networking. This achievement signifies a significant milestone in his career, reflecting his commitment to upholding high standards of patient care and advancing the field of optometry.
