The University of Hyderabad (UoH) welcomed a delegation from the Japan Science and Technology Agency (JST) on June 9, 2025. The delegation, led by Mr. T. Konishi and Mr. Yuji Nishikawa, engaged with faculty members to explore potential collaborations in the presence of Prof. BJ Rao, Vice Chancellor; Dr. Devesh Nigam, Registrar of UoH.

Key Discussions

– Enhancing India-Japan Collaboration: Prof. BJ Rao emphasized the need to expand collaborative work between India and Japan.

– LOTUS Programme: JST introduced the India-Japan Circulation of Talented Youths in Science Programme, aimed at accelerating joint research and supporting career development for Indian youth.

– Research Collaborations: UoH faculty showcased research in areas like cancer, kidney diseases, high frequency materials, lithium-ion batteries, nano generative diseases to name a few.

Prof. Bramanandam Manavathi, Director, Office of International Affairs (OIA) gave a brief on the achievements of OIA and the ongoing collaborations with major universities and research institutions world over.

Future Prospects

– Student Exchange: Associate Director, OIA expressed interest in hosting Japanese faculty and students to foster cultural exchange and academic collaboration.

The visit highlighted the potential for strengthened partnerships between UoH and Japanese Universities, paving the way for future collaborations in research and education.
