The students’ team of the University of Hyderabad (UoH) won the Zonal round of Reserve Bank of India (RBI) Policy Challenge on February 2, 2018. The team had competitions with Madras School of Economics, Christ University Bangalore, and St. Teresas College Kerala. The topic was Assessment of Recent Inflation Expectations Survey of Households and suggesting a suitable policy response.
The team made a presentation for 15 minutes before the jury comprising of Prof. Shasank Bhide, Director, MIDS, Prof M Suresh Babu, IIT Madras and Ms. Radhika Merwin, The Hindu Business Line. The jury fielded questions to the team comprising of Mr. Soumyajit Ray, Mr. Atish Kumar, Ms. Madhurima Chandra, and Mr. Pravesh. The team had Prof. Debashis Acharya, Deans Students Welfare (DSW) has their faculty advisor. The team won the cash prize of Rs.15,000/- with certificates of appreciation.
Now, the team will compete in the national round to be announced shortly and to be held at RBI, Mumbai before the Governor, and Deputy Governors of RBI. RBI policy challenge has been a yearly affair started by the then Governor Raghuram Raja.
