Mr. Aditya S Jamadagni, an alumnus of the School of Chemistry, University of Hyderabad (Integrated MSc Chemistry, 2019-2024), has secured a fully funded PhD position at the Department of Chemistry, University of Connecticut (in Storrs, Connecticut, USA). He will be pursuing his research in the field of Polymer Chemistry in this PhD position.

The PhD position includes a full tuition waiver, a cost-of-living stipend and subsidised healthcare. Here, he will be working as a teaching assistant in the department while pursuing his research full time.
During his Integrated MSc coursework, he was part of the Polymer Chemistry Laboratory headed by Prof. Tushar Jana at the School of Chemistry, University of Hyderabad. Here, he did his internship and Master’s project in the area of non-isocyanate polyhydroxyurethanes for their applications in the biomedical field, such as controlled release of anti-cancer drugs and cell-imaging studies. After graduating, he joined the same laboratory as a project assistant, where he did independent research under a collaborative project with TATA Steel Ltd. to develop novel anti-corrosion coatings for steel using conducting polymers. Along with his independent study, he also assisted in synthesising acrylate-based stimuli-responsive polymers through RAFT polymerisation while continuing his Master’s project during this period.
Aditya wholeheartedly thanks his supervisor, Prof. Tushar Jana, for giving him the opportunity to gain knowledge and hands-on experience in Polymer Chemistry and his senior PhD students in the laboratory for training him and helping him navigate his research projects. He is confident that the skills and knowledge he acquired in this period will significantly impact his research career.
