Climate change is not a future threat—it is a present reality affecting the lives of billions. From crop failures to widespread flooding, its impacts are becoming increasingly severe and frequent, with global disaster losses reaching nearly 320 billion USD last year. Despite the growing urgency for climate action, international support to tackle these challenges continues to face constraints.
In this context, the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) convenes the Conference of the Parties (COP) to drive stronger climate policies and meaningful global action. This year, COP30 is being hosted by the Government of Brazil from 10 to 21 November 2025.

As part of its awareness initiatives on COP30 and climate-related policy issues, the Centre for Earth, Ocean and Atmospheric Sciences (CEOAS) organized a half-day session on 14 November 2025 at the University of Hyderabad.
Prof. Dr. Donti Narasimha Reddy, a distinguished environmental science educator and proud alumnus of UoH, engaged with students and delivered insightful discussions on climate change and the vital role of effective policy interventions. Dr. Hari Sarvotham and CEOAS faculty coordinated the event.
The event aimed to deepen students’ understanding of global climate issues and encourage active participation in climate-related dialogues.
