Department of Anthropology MA students participated in the three-day National Workshop on ‘Anthropology and Museum’ organized by Indira Gandhi Rashtriya Manav Sangrahalaya (IGRMS), Bhopal, from 6th to 8th February 2026. The students, Mr. Golla Sai Teja, Mr. Katla Prabhas, Ms. Araveti Thharunee, Mr. Surampudi Lokesh, Ms. Subiksha PB, Mr. Brijesh Sahu, Ms. Paipuru Jyothi Priya, Mr. Mithun Kumar and, Mr. Sondi Gandhivarma were accompanied by Dr. Rongsenzulu Jamir, Guest Faculty.

The workshop brought together about 95 postgraduate students and faculty from 34 institutions across India. The inaugural address was given by Prof. S.M. Pattnaik, Department of Anthropology, University of Delhi. Prof. Amitabh Pande, Director, IGRMS, delivered a thematic lecture on ‘Anthropology and Museums’, outlining the relationship between anthropological practice, museum spaces and its importance in the Indian context.

Distinguished invited speakers delivered lectures on different aspects of Museums and Indian Cultural heritage. The participants actively engaged in the sessions and were enlightened by visiting Veethi-Sankul, the indoor museum which covers different thematic galleries on human evolution, material culture, arts and crafts of Indian Tribes.
Dr. Anuradha, Museum Associate, explained in detail about Rock Art Heritage open-air exhibition located within the IGRMS campus. The curators briefed the delegates about the uniqueness of the Open-Air museum thematic exhibitions Traditional Technology Park and Kumhar-Para, Mythological Trail, Tribal Habitat and Himalayan village, Desert and Coastal villages.

The students of the Department of Anthropology acknowledge and appreciate the organizers, especially Prof. Amitabh Pande, Director, IGRMS for the unique experience.
